Based in Trépail, a small Premier Cru village north of Ambonnay in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, David Léclapart is both a harvester and grower with a deep commitment to biodynamic farming. Following his father’s passing, he devoted himself fully to this philosophy and, in 1997, converted all 2.85 hectares of the family’s 22 small parcels to biodynamic cultivation — a bold and pioneering move at the time.
Léclapart’s approach is defined by purity and precision. He made three key decisions that continue to shape his wines: no dosage, no use of reserve wines, and no blending of vintages. The vineyards, all east-facing, are predominantly planted to Chardonnay (2.5 ha) with a small amount of Pinot Noir.

Decanter
This comes from 30- to 50-year-old Chardonnay vines in the village of Trépail, and it is always the product of a single harvest with no reserve wine used (a code on the back label indicates the year). It is partially fermented in barrel, accentuating its complex depth and its lively, chalk-driven finesse. 94 points
