2022 Bendito Destino Field Blend

$146.00

Expect a deep ruby red colour with intense aromatics of fresh red fruits, subtle florals, and a touch of herbaceousness, earthy undertones, and spice. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, offering vibrant acidity, rich texture, fine tannins, and a lingering finish of raspberry, black cherries, and clove. The inclusion of white grapes adds a lifted brightness, bringing great tension and balance.

All seven grape varieties are used including Tempranillo, Garnacha, Bobal from reds and Albillo, Pirulés and Alarije in terms of whites. All sites are vinified separately and then blended together. They co-ferment with a combination of whole berry and whole bunches and hand destemmed, open-top fermented, and 20-30% whole bunch. Only 3,800 bottles were produced. This is the flagship wine from Bendito Destino, a must have. This wine is versatile enough to enjoy young or with some age in the cellar, perfect for any occasion. It pairs beautifully with or without food, and boasts a serious pedigree.

20-30% whole bunch. Supple and bright with lovely texture, showing red cherries and strawberries as well as some spices. Fine, mineral and pure with good mouthfeel. 94 points

Blend of different grapes—mainly Tempranillo with others like Garnacha, Bobal, Albillo Mayor, Pirulés and Malvasía—from their own vineyards, plots they rent and fruit they buy. Each plot is vinified separately, with uncrushed hand-destemmed grapes and some whole bunch, and the wine is aged for 16 months in barrels of different sizes and ages. This is the biggest production for red (and any color!) and is a blend of different vineyards, owned and rented, and also purchased fruit; it is intended to emphasize the fact that they work with old vineyards, always planted with a field blend.
In 2022, it has a ripe Tempranillo base (which could be 80% of the wine) but with more lift. The nose is quite showy and perfumed, with some floral notes and a core of berries and herbs and a meaty twist. It has grip and abundant slightly dusty tannins that call for food. The parameters are 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.75 and four grams of acidity. This is definitely their most powerful wine. 4,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2023. 94 points
