2022 François Rousset-Martin Savagnin ‘Vigne aux Dames’

$280.00

Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate
The last bottling of the superb 2022 Savagnin Vigne aux Dames, which comes from yields of 2,500 kilos of grapes per hectare, matured in barrels for 46 months, almost four years.

It’s a wine that took a very long time to ferment, two years, but the slow process gives it more complexity and depth, with notes of cheese (Comté!), some mushrooms and a faint earthiness. It is more electric despite being ripe, close to 14% alcohol, but with a pH of 3.0 after malolactic. It has a balanced palate and is fine-boned, finely textured and rich but without being heavy. It finishes with a strong salty twist. This was a bottling of 2,000 bottles from a 1,500-litre foudre. It was bottled in April 2026. 98 points
