The 2011 Clos de la Maréchale had already been racked in the summer and was showing very well indeed. There will be no Clos des Fourches in 2011. The superb nose is a fine mélange of red and black cherries, nutskins, coffee, mustard seed, a beautifully complex base of soil and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish and very classy, with lovely mid-palate depth and transparency, moderate tannins and excellent focus and balance on the very long and soil-driven finish. The inherent elegance of the 2011 vintage is very much in evidence in this lovely example of Clos de la Maréchale. 91 points
